Beginning in 2000, the City of Detroit has spent millions of dollars on new
fire apparatus, to bring the fleet up to current standards and good working
order. In the year 2000, fourteen American LaFrance pumpers and one Sutphen
platform were delivered. Six rear-mounts and two tillers built by Pierce were
delivered in 2001, along with three American LaFrance tillers and an Advanced
Containment Systems, Inc. decontamination trailer.

The only delivery for 2002 was a Pierce quint assigned to Engine 48.
