The Tidewater Update provides apparatus news from souteastern Virginia, from the Richmond metropolitan area to Virginia Beach and the North Carolina line. The cities covered include are Richmond, Hopewell, Williamsburg, Newport News, Hampton, Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, and Suffolk. Also covered are the surrounding counties of Chesterfield, Hanover, Henrico, New Kent, James City, York, Southampton, Isle of Wight, Surry, and Sussex. There are also military bases for the Air Force, Army, and the worlds largest Naval Base in this area. The city deaprtments are primarilly career departments, although some are combination, while the majority of the county departments are volunteer. This wide range of department types makes for a great variety of apparatus.
